Today, I’m taking you to one of the rare waterfalls in the World one of only about 20 that flow directly into the sea, and among the top six most popular: Lower Düden Waterfall. Come along, my dear readers, let’s explore it together.

Where is Düden Waterfall?
If you continue straight along the old Lara road, you’ll find it inside Düden Park, located in the Lara district of Antalya. Built around the cliffs, this park is quite large and especially suitable for families with children. Features of Düden Waterfall
In the past, locals used to call this place “Karpuz Kaldıran Waterfall” (Watermelon Lifter), due to the sheer force of the water flow. Its current is so strong that it seems powerful enough to lift a watermelon. The waterfall actually consists of two branches: Upper Düden and Lower Düden. Interestingly, the water does not come from mountains or plains it originates from karstic (underground) sources. In geography, “düden” refers to sinkholes or depressions formed in limestone regions where surface water disappears underground and resurfaces later.

It is the most well-known waterfall in Türkiye that flows directly into the sea.

What is Düden Park Like?
The Lower Düden Waterfall cascades from approximately 40 meters down the cliffs into the sea. As the water falls, the mist, wind, and occasional rainbows create a truly mesmerizing view. I stood there for minutes just watching the water meet the sea there’s something incredibly refreshing about such a simple yet powerful scene.

Around me were families having picnics, children flying kites, babies crawling on the grass, dogs walking with their owners, and happy kids running around. Seeing the joyful faces of people in my beautiful country something I hadn’t noticed in a while truly moved me.

There are many cafés and tea spots in and around the park. You can either sit at a venue or relax on the grass. I chose the latter grabbed my coffee and sat on the grass. Enjoying a sunny day like this, not by lying around or scrolling through reels, but by observing my surroundings, discovering new places, and truly experiencing life in nature, felt incredibly fulfilling.

A Green Escape in the Middle of the City

Although Kültür Park is located in the heart of Antalya, it surprises first-time visitors with its spacious and peaceful atmosphere. I personally like to call it a “fairy-tale land.” The artificial lake inside the park enhances this feeling even more. You can sit on a bench, put on your headphones and listen to music, enjoy the silence, or read a book and spend some quality time with yourself. It’s usually quieter on weekdays and more lively on weekends.

Walking, Relaxing, and Everyday Getaways

Whenever I don’t feel my best, I find myself coming here. Kültür Park truly captivates you with its tranquility and natural beauty. Even short walks remind you how important it is to stay connected with nature. While spring is especially enjoyable, I believe the park is beautiful in every season—although the summer heat can be a bit challenging.

One of the Most Photogenic Spots in Antalya

It’s quite common to see couples taking wedding photos in Kültür Park. Its calm nature and photogenic atmosphere make it an ideal location for such shoots. The lush greenery, reflections on the lake, and the overall scenery all come together beautifully in photographs.

A Place Children Will Love

As cities continue to grow, open spaces where children can move freely are becoming increasingly limited. Kültür Park offers a great alternative in this regard. In addition to wide areas where children can run and play, there are also activities such as remote-controlled cars, bicycles, and horse-drawn carriages offered by small businesses within the park—things children truly enjoy.
