I have been living in Antalya for almost 20 years. When I was twelve years old, my family moved from Hatay to Antalya. Even though both cities are located on the Mediterranean coast, there were significant differences in culture—especially when it came to food.

Döner is not just a sandwich or wrap it’s also part of modern urban fast-food culture. It’s quick to prepare, fast to serve, and incredibly delicious when done right.

First Impressions of the Place

To be honest, when I first entered the restaurant, I didn’t have high expectations. I had tried many places claiming to serve İskenderun style wraps, but most of them ended in disappointment.

However, things changed the moment I started watching the preparation behind the counter.

The chef’s movements, the ingredients, and the incredible smell coming from the grill suddenly made me smile. It reminded me of the döner shops from my childhood.

Then I saw the bread.

It was golden, crispy, and perfectly toasted.

The sauce was dripping from the meat.

I looked at my brother and asked, “Is this real?”

Then the chef said something that immediately caught my attention:

“We don’t use ketchup here. We use a special İskenderun sauce and mayonnaise.”

How Does the Döner Taste?

My order was prepared very quickly, and the wrap was served hot and fresh.

I told my brother:

I simply wanted to share this experience because it was one of the most enjoyable döner meals I’ve had in Antalya. The fact that it reminded me of my childhood makes it even more special.
